VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT AMANECER

Currently we are not accepting any MA, MSW internships.

BASIC NECESSITIES DRIVE

Collect personal care products and other essentials to help the women in our program for victims of domestic violence.  Items as basic as toilet paper and toothpaste are often difficult to come by for our clients – many of whom must choose between food for their children rather than buying these products. Collected items are distributed year-round to those in need.  Your donations of soap, shampoo, deodorant, sanitary napkins, toilet paper, toothpaste/toothbrush, baby food, diapers, nonperishable food and laundry soap will provide relief and comfort to hundreds of women and children.
PROJECT CONNECT – TEEN SUPPORT

Project Connect provides mentoring, case management and counseling for teens and foster youth to prepare them for successful independent living and self-sufficiency. Volunteers are needed to help students complete financial aid and college application forms, write resumes, prepare for job interviews, and learn independent living skills. Volunteers also accompany students on campus tours of local colleges and universities, as well as cultural events, museums and other outings.
CITYSCAPE – ART THERAPY FOR CHILDREN

Cityscape utilizes specially trained therapists and community artists to help children struggling with behavioral disorders and mental illness.  All forms of art are incorporated – painting, sculpting, dance, music, performance – and supplies are always in demand. Volunteers help collect art supplies (paper, paint, musical instruments, puppets, CDs, crayons, glue, etc.) that are used daily by children and artists.
CHILDREN’S LIBRARY

Our recently updated Children’s Waiting Room provides a welcoming environment for kids and parents when they arrive at Amanecer. Volunteers are needed to help collect books and DVDs (English and Spanish) for children ages 0-13.
SERVICE FOR SENIORS

Amanecer provides in-home mental health and case management services for many seniors who are homebound. They are often in need of food, over-the-counter medicines, clean blankets and warm clothing. Volunteers are needed to help collect these items for seniors who are often overlooked and neglected.
