Graduation 2014

On June 26, family, friends and supporters gathered to celebrate the stunning transformation of
30 individuals, as they graduated from Amanecer’s program for victims of domestic violence. The
transformation took tremendous courage and a commitment to build a better life for the 29 women
and one man who proudly celebrated their journey from victim to survivor.

The theme of the graduation event was “Transformation” brought to life by colorful butterfly
decorations and the release of 30 monarch butterflies as the ceremony ended. Three of the
graduates spoke to the guests, each sharing their own personal story of how they came to
Amanecer and how the program has helped them to change their lives.

Guest speakers included Ana Cubas, member of Amanecer Board of Directors, and radio and
television personality, Raquel “RaqC” Cordova.Their inspiring messages resonated with the
graduates, as well as the guests. For the first time, the graduation event also included a pop-
up bazaar, featuring artwork from some of the graduates, as well as butterfly charms. Proceeds
from the bazaar will help to fund the domestic violence program.
