Clinical Depression Impacting More Los Angeles Residents

Clinical depression impacting more Los Angeles residents

An increase in the number of people diagnosed with clinical depression was reported in a new survey, according to a recent Los Angeles Times article. The report, conducted by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, found that 14% of respondents said they had at some point been diagnosed with depressive disorder, compared with 9% in 1999.

Greater awareness and less stigma about depression rather than an actual increase in the number of people who suffer from depression, is likely the reason for the higher number of reports, County officials were quick to point out.
