Domestic abuse is insidious. It does not discriminate. Anyone of any age, race, sexual orientation, religion or gender can be a victim of domestic abuse. And abuse can take many forms.

Your support will help a victim become a survivor. 


 

The First Step Forward program tackles the many causes that keep a victim in an abusive situation. 

It creates a new self-sufficient path for these survivors to flourish and thrive, free of abuse. 

ADDRESS TRAUMA

Our trauma-informed agency focuses on healing the emotional and mental wounds these victims have faced. 

STABILIZE THEIR HOME

Many victims are financially dependent on their abuser. We help to connect clients, many of whom have children, with safe-housing and other basic-needs resources. 

OPTIMIZE FUTURE SUCCESS

Often victims have been made to quit their jobs or have never been allowed to have one. Amanecer helps to connect them with employment-readiness and educational resources. 

CREATE A SAFE SPACE

At Amanecer we meet clients where they are. We approach care with cultural competency to ensure that they feel safe and comfortable in seeking care regardless of stigmas they may have due to religion, previously held beliefs, culture, etc. 

REMOVE OTHER BARRIERS

Clients receive help with issues that were barriers to recovery such as childcare, legal advocacy, accessibility, difficulty paying bills, etc. 

GRADUATION CEREMONY

Each year, a graduation ceremony is held to celebrate program participants for their hard work and escort them positively into their new lives.
